Jogging with an Overflowing Heart

How funny is it that kids still do the same things in school that we did so many years ago? I love when Sofia tells me things like, "Mom, I know what Plymouth Rock is. Do you?"

Last weekend, we were on our way to the Jungkeits' house when Gabe asked, "How many dollars did you spend on this car?" And after we answered him, he said, "Shoooot. I would've just given him 1 dollar and kicked the guy's butt and drove off with the car." It is so hard to stifle your laughter as you respond, "Gaaaabbbe, that's really not nice and that would put you right in jail."

Gabe has been keeping me company on my jogs now that Zoe really can't keep up. It's kinda depressing when you realize your dog is getting old. Even more depressing when you realize YOU are getting old. lol! Have any of you accidentally called current pets' by old pets' names? Actually one thing I look forward to is the day when Gabe and I can both ride our bicycles together -- and it feels like exercise for me. :) Well -- it's a mixed bag: I look forward to it and I dread it at the same time. I don't want the kids to grow up too fast, and they sure seem to be doing JUST that!

Last night, we took the kids to see a high school production of Charlotte's Web. One of my colleagues' daughters are in it as Fern and as a baby spider, and they were just adorable! I knew this was one play that wouldn't be too scary for Sofia, but I could not have guessed that she would cry when it was over. "I don't want it to be ooooovvvveeerrrr!" ay yi yi! I guess that's as wonderful a review as a production could get -- a 3-year-old who doesn't want the play to end! :) Charlotte's Web is one of the best stories about friendship and love -- it really is perfect for Thanksgiving.

I signed up to do DC's Trot for Hunger -- this is the second or third time I have done it. Just a 5k, but I'm getting old and 5ks are about all I can handle. :) No marathons for this gal anymore. I much prefer riding the bike these days, although I am not ambitious enough to do one of your crazy races, Tina. :) The Trot for Hunger raises money to help the homeless of DC. At work, we get everyone to bring in warm clothes for the local homeless shelter in DC and gently-used towels and blankets for the local animal shelter. I always wind up wishing we did more the rest of the year (at work), so maybe in 2010, we'll do a spring cleaning drive or something. But we do a lot as a family, and I know my colleagues all do a lot individually too. I am so very thankful for my family, friends, and colleagues who teach me the meaning of true kindness and love over and over again. Thank you everyone! Much love being sent your way...xoxo, Kristinn

Will you send out a link to fund raise for the 5K again?

Please send the fundraising link! And my hat's off to you, honey. These OLD knees can't run for the bus anymore, let alone several kilometers for charity! And I only enter the 'race'.... what I do (and certainly the pace at which I do it!!) is nowhere near accurately described as racing! :)
