Happy 2011! We had a wonderful visit with Mom, Granny, Great-Aunt Ginny, Uncle Bill, Aunt Patti, and cousins Abby, Alex, Becca and Billy over the holidays. We drove up to New York City on Christmas Day and along the way picked up Mom who had just flown into Philly. Got to enjoy Times Square in a blizzard -- had yummy pizza, a fabulous brunch and saw a show. Blizzard turned into "thundersnow" as the news called it that night, which led to a little side adventure in Newark. LOL! We pulled off of the Jersey Turnpike into a hotel near Neward airport because the roads were so slippery and between the lightning and the sideways snow, it was a bit scary. Stayed in a room that didn't have heat, but hey, at least it was safe and we got some of our money back. :)
On the way back, we stayed with Aunt Patti and Uncle Bill and the kids had an awesome time playing in the snow. Gabe's a good snowboarder, and we think it's time to introduce ski lessons. That will have to be a weekend trip sometime soon!
Needless to say, the kids had a fun Christmas. Just a couple nights ago, Gabe informed us that Santa used magic to create his pillow pet. When we asked what he meant, he showed us that his pillow makes lightning. He rubs his hair on the pillow pet and puts his hand across it afterward, and voila! Little lightning strikes! I should video this for you guys because hey, static electricity is pretty darn magical. :)
Gabe is having a great time putting Legos together all by himself, and Sofia is playing with her dress-up dolls non-stop. They really enjoyed Elf on the Shelf from Aunt Kathy and Uncle Marty. We wrote thank-you cards to everyone on the way to NJ, but they'll probably sit here another week or two before I ever get them out the door! Thanks so much for all the great gifts for the kids!
