I am now having a princess ballerina tea party for Darling Sofia's 3rd birthday party. She is too much! Today all day she insisted on being called Aunt Amy. She does this all the time, makes up new names for herself, takes on other people's names. She even told me, "You're not my mother; you're my sister!" How does she understand that association? She cracks me up.
In ballet yesterday, the teacher said, "Hello, Sofia" and she retorted, "I'm Ballerina Sofia." (Well, excuse me!) She also put her hand on her hip earlier and turned to me to announce that "these people are in my way!" I said, "Sofia! You just need to say, "Excuse me please" so people know you're trying to squeeze by. She promptly said, "Mom, I didn't say a bad word." I had to tell her, "No, you didn't, but your tone -- the way you said your words was not nice!"
We're renting out a local community center for a couple hours on Sunday, December 14th (because they weren't available the first weekend in December) and all the kids are invited to wear their tutus. Fia's ballet teacher is giving a lesson to the kids; the kids will have a tea party (translation: apple juice with mini cupcakes); and the goody bags have little princess tiaras and some prince tiaras too for the kids to wear. I'm almost done prepping for the party. As much as I'm not girly, I confess I get sucked into the vortex that is known as kid party planning.
And, Gabe makes me laugh the way he tries so hard to be a grown-up. After telling his Grandpa happy birthday over the phone, he passed the phone to Sofia, saying, "It's Alan for you, Sofia." Earlier at Target, when I said, "Where'd Dad go?" Gabe replied, "Tim's right here Mom." It freaks me out more than a little bit to hear him call everyone by their first names. Gabe is becoming more and more of the little helper around the house. When I'm cleaning, he wants to be cleaning too. Tim told me the other day, Gabe helped bring in all the groceries. I guess this is pretty typical eldest child behavior, but part of me wants to tell him, "Have fun kid! You're FIVE years old! Stop being so responsible!" :D

Anywho, happy birthday again Dad from your eldest child who was definitely not very responsible until later in life! :)
