Tough Week

The kids are both sick again...seems like they just got over the flu. Sofia started running a crazy-high temperature on Sunday; the cough and runny nose came next; and then the scariest part -- loss of appetite and lethargy. We took her to the doctor's office on Tuesday, and they said it sounded like a virus -- to keep giving her Motrin and her face mask with the 2 different inhalers. By Wednesday, Gabe had started coughing a lot too, but no fever. Yesterday, when she still wasn't feeling any better and the fever was still 103 between Motrin doses, I called the dr and she asked us to come in at 6:15 for a follow-up.

Long story short (after the doc sent us to Fairfax Hospital for a chest x-ray and bloodwork), she has viral pneumonia and Gabriel has bronchitis. Sofia seems to be doing better today --actually got her to eat toast this morning and part of a banana and then some pasta at dinner. Gabe was just thrilled to be home with Mommy & Sofia today and asked me a couple of times if I was worried about him now too because he's sick. He's such a sweet boy. Held my hand and told me it would be okay when I was crying because Sofia was screaming, not wanting to have blood drawn. I told him I was okay, just a little worried about Sofia.

To end this post on an upbeat note -- Gabe was washing his hands in front of the mirror and Tim said, "hey, do you see that handsome boy right there?" Gabriel responded, "Yes. He only has one head, one mouth, one nose, and two eyes." Kids' responses sometimes are hilariously off the wall.

So sorry to hear that they're both sick! I hope you're all back to 100% soon!
