Obama Excitement

The world's cutest kids with an Obama cut-out at Union Station
"Oh say can you see?" Just barely...I was freezing cold yesterday. :D

The Capitol building at night

Obama's home starting tomorrow!

The crowd yesterday at the Lincoln Memorial...

The Park Police (upper left) were more than a little bit intimidating...

BONO!!!

The Edge

Making new friends...

Beachball fun!

Sharp shooters on the roof of the Lincoln Memorial...

Obama, Obama, Obama -- the crowd chanted.

That's Bruce Springsteen! Can't you tell? LOL!

This was the "free" view for the public... The true public, you know, the rich and famous all got to sit down up front.

Here are some pix from yesterday's We Are One concert at the Lincoln Memorial. I was disappointed that I showed up bright and early to be at the "front" of the crowd, only to realize the closest the Park Police let us stand was ridiculously far away. We could barely see the podium. People on-stage looked like little tiny figurines. We were better off staring at the JumboTron.

It was still fun to be part of the excitement, to feel like part of history, to be in SUCH a large crowd of people who came out to see the President-Elect and all of the celebrities who were together honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.'s memory. It was incredible to sing songs like The Rising, Higher Ground, Lean on Me, and In the Name of Love with the several hundred thousand people around me.

I don't think I'm going to brave the elements to go to inauguration tomorrow, mostly because I don't want to be away from the kids another day this weekend. We painted the rest of the office/guest bedroom today, and I'm feeling like I was away from them way too much this weekend. Holly even came over and helped us paint, which was her "day of service." LOL!
I have a little bit of work to do which I'm hoping to get done tonight, so the kids can have my full attention tomorrow. Sofia's coming down with another chest cold. Poor baby.

Glad you got out and soaked up the experience, even if you didn't have the best seat in the house. Still, to be a part of such history is exciting in itself. Thanks for the photos of my boys. :)

I'm soooo happy that you were there!!! I feel closer to the happenings when someone close to me experiences them first-hand (especially with photos!!!). The view left a lot to be desired, but it must have been amazing to be part of such a fantastic day in history.

Good on you!!!

Oh Kristinn! You are truly one for the books to go there - I was with you in spirit! HBO was supposed to show it but my picture was all grainy so I turned it off. The crowds were amazing yesterday and today. I was glued to the TV all day and Obama gave such an inspiring speech that I had tears in my eyes.
