bal-lell-lei

That's the way Sofia pronounces it -- bal-lel-lei, which would typically be super cute, EXCEPT in the context I heard it last Saturday morning. We arrived for ballet class only to learn the instructor was sick, so class was cancelled. I tried gently explaining to Sofia that her teacher, Miss Wendy, was sick, and she would hopefully be back next weekend.

I have never seen a toddler pitch such a fit as the tantrum that ensued...."BUT I WANT MY BAL-LELL-LEI!" "NOOOOO! I DON'T WANT TO GO HOME! I WANT BAL-LELL-LEI!" kicking, screaming, correction: screeching, hysterical sobbing...After trying everything I could think of (including hugs, apologies, bribery, "Do you want a treat from the Farmer's Market?" -- "NOOOOO! I DON'T WANT A TREAT FROM THE FARMER'S MARKET!" -- You know your child is POed when even bribery doesn't work!), I finally gave up and put her in her carseat and turned the music up to tune her out. She cried for 27 minutes straight. That Miss Wendy sure had better not be sick this Saturday. If she is, I might start crying too. :D

Wow! She really likes her class, doesn't she? You'll really have to come up with some alternative fun to use at this time....forget the farmer's market.......LOL!
