LONG week! Is the weekend here YET?!

Last weekend, for Sofia's actual birthday, we had a small sleepover to celebrate. Gabe's friend Ethan and his younger sister Abigail came over. We were having all kinds of fun. The kids helped me bake two cakes -- one white and one chocolate! That is, until Gabe started to break out in a strange rash. First, it looked like bug bites and then it looked like huge welts and then like sunburn. Freakiest thing ever! And, WHY did this have to be happening with company over?! All I could think was, "OMG, what am I exposing these kids to?!"

Turns out Gabe's little cough (that I had warned Ethan & Abby's mom about) was not so little. Our son was getting hives as a reaction to pneumonia. PNEUMONIA?! I know - my reaction exactly. Particularly because I took him to the doctor a couple weeks ago and the doc listened to his lungs and said, "Oh no, his lungs are clear. No infection." Of course this time they said, "Oh, well surely it developed since his last appointment." *sigh* I'm posting pix so you can see why I was so freaked out.

The good news he's MUCH better now that he's on a steady regimen of Amoxicillin, Claritin and Benadryl. On the bright side, I'm just glad he's not allergic to the newest member of our family -- Dragon. (Pix to come when she lets me get closer to her with a camera...), and hey, he'll be healthy for Sofia's actual birthday party this weekend. The princess ballerina tea party is steadily approaching! And we're very excited about our company that arrives Saturday -- Granny and Aunt Patty with Abby, Alex, Becca, and Billy!
