Kids Say the Darnedest Things

In the car ride home from school today, Gabriel said, "Mom, I thought I was going to throw up today at school." When I asked him why, he said, "Someone FRENCH-KISSED me!" I said, "WHAT?! WHO french-kissed you?" And he said, "Jimmy." (Jimmy is one of Gabe's best friends at school.) I said, "Eww, Gabe. We don't french-kiss until we're grown-ups!"

He has also been totally fascinated by burglars lately. He heard a joke on the radio about burglars and asked me what a burglar was. After I explained, he asked me lots of questions: "Mom, but what if the burglars try to come in our house?" I said, "Gabe, you know mommy's way too mean to bad guys and monsters. They won't even try to come into our house." His retort, "BUT MOM. What will you do if they try to come in?" Without thinking, I said, "Oh, I'd kick 'em in the balls Gabe and they'd go running away." That sent Gabe into fits of hysterical laughter, and he said, "And, Mom, they would grab their balls and cry and walk backward." I don't know where he gets this stuff. (Ok, maybe I have an idea...)

Here's a pic from our bedtime routine tonight...I wanted you guys to see that my darling daughter picks out her own outfits EVEN for bed! She's wearing a summer dress OVER her pajamas -- all flowers. She loves flowers. I have the girliest little girl on the planet. Tim calls her all kinds of cute nicknames from "chicken potpie" to "sugarpop" to "sopapilla" -- I just realized all his nicknames for her have to do with food. Funny!
