Waxin nostalgic...

This flu is so rotten that I actually called out sick from work today, something I do maybe twice a year, and those occasions are generally because my kids are sick, not because I am. It seriously has me waxing nostalgic...when was the last time I had a flu this bad? 1995 to be exact. All of my friends had just left on spring break. I was always too broke to partake in such fun activities. I thought I would die as I languished in bed for a week straight. This time was worse (I know, woe is me, the great Drama Queen) because I had a four-year-old and a two-year-old to take care of while Tim was out of town for the weekend. The kids did really well, considering they reminded me when they were hungry (I was dazed and confused), and all in all, somehow we survived it together. They have never watched so many cartoons in one weekend, and I hope they never get a repeat performance of this weekend. I guess 13 years between flu episodes isn't something to complain about. This weekend gave me a tiny taste of what it would be like to be a single parent, and I have no idea how single mothers do it. I'll tell you one thing: I don't think I have ever been so happy to see my husband. He immediately set to work fixing me up with some of his Mom's chicken noodle soup. Thanks Nani for the soup! I think I might finally be on the mend. Tomorrow's outlook: bright and sunny!
