Lately, whenever Sofia walks into a room where I am, she pays me a compliment. It's the cutest thing ever to receive compliments from your 2-year-old. This morning, it was, "Oooh, Mom, I like your boots." And then she followed that with, "I like your hair."
She enjoys pretending SO much and can play talking to her dolls for long periods of time. I find babydolls strewn all over the place, covered up by blankets, in diapers, "at school," etc. This morning, she and her baby were cooking. She had pulled a chair over and had placed a bowl on the stove and was stirring imaginary food in the bowl. "FFFtttt, careful, it's hot," I heard her telling Bunny (yep, that's one of her babydoll's names) while she blew on the "food" for her baby. It's amazing to me that a 2-year-old girl can have such maternal notions seemingly ingrained! She's rubbing off on me too, I think, because I'm doing girly things I never imagined I'd do with my daughter, like curling her hair in foam curlers the other night. OMG! Wait 'til I post a picture. I didn't think they'd take so well in her fine hair. My daughter had a seriously tightly curled do atop her head! It was riotously funny. Tim reported back that her teacher said, "I see Mommy's been playing with your hair again..." LOL!
Gabriel wants to play name games and rhyming games with me these days. He loves to play school too, which entails reading and practicing writing. His favorite is making up goofy names for each other. Often, when I tuck him in for the night, his stall tactic is to keep one-upping me with the funny names..."Goodnight Mommy Squarepants!" I respond, "Goodnight Pirate Bahoodysquat!" He roars with laughter. "Goodnight Mommy Turtlebutt!" We both crack up and keep it going as long as we can before it's ONE more hug and ONE more kiss...and finally an, "I'll see you in the morning!"

Lovely! What great memories! When Abby was in daycare and I had pick-up duty, we used to do the same thing like a "I saw a car on a bed" and she would reply "in a tre" etc. And of course, we would both laugh after each comment. Silly stuff to remember.
I notice I keep leaving letters out. LOL
